David J. Strohmaier is a historian with Historical Research Associates in Missoula, Montana. He worked for fifteen seasons as a wildland firefighter for the Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Forest Service. He is the author of The Seasons of Fire: Reflections on Fire in the West (also from the University of Nevada Press).
